Amazing Race Winning Team Cuts Principal's Hair

Mrs. Steig's 4th hour class won the most recent Pine River High School Amazing Race.  The winning team cut and painted in holiday style the head and hair of high school principal Brent Ruppert as part of a holiday assembly sponsored by NHS.  Great job, students!  

Tailgate Party

September 8, 2017--Pine River High School cafeteria; community-wide tailgate party in progress until 7:00 pm.  Come down and get a hot dog, bag of chips, and a drink then go see the varsity football game at 7:00 pm for free! It is our way of saying Thanks for passing the bond and showing off our brand new grandstands and bleachers!  

Outdoor Environmental Science Class

Pine River High School’s Outdoor Environmental Science class, taught by Mr. Eric Thompson, set up camp at the school's property near Woodpecker Flats Sunday afternoon, October 23rd, and stayed through Monday afternoon on October 24th working on shelter projects. Students were assigned forest terrain from around the world (randomly assigned), and presented with the task of creating a shelter using limited supplies and natural resources. Some student groups chose to sleep in their shelters Sunday night, while other students slept in four-man tents, or the large canvas classroom tent with a woodstove. Shelter examples included: shelters with raised beds for wet and soggy ground terrain, moss covered shelters with pine boughs upside down similar to palm leaves to deter water from entering the shelter, and a shelter built mostly off the ground in a tree

The student work was amazing, but even greater than that, the teamwork, generosity, and camaraderie displayed was second to none.

Buck PRide through and through! Thanks go to Mrs. Laura Mumby and Ms. Alyssa Crouch, teachers who assisted Mr. Thompson during the camp over and the survival classroom scenario.

The class intends to conduct similar events at other school properties and will include continued aquatic and wildlife biology, ecology, and a vast array of environmental science projects such as water quality testing and water specimen examination.
